When it comes to the great outdoors, Allen has ample room for exploring. It is located in Collin County and is about 20 miles north of downtown Dallas. It is just north of Plano and west of Lucas and Fairview.
Allen offers great outdoor adventures. Wander along the unpaved trails at Dayspring Nature Preserve or The Trail at the Woods, cast a line at Bethany Lakes Park, or pack a picnic and head for Connemara Meadow Nature Preserve. Playgrounds are also tucked along the expansive trail system; Spirit Park, Heritage Park and Waterford Park are local favorites. Twin Creeks is another desirable neighborhood that is located in the heart of Allen and offers a golf course, community pool, park, walking trails, tennis courts, and 2 ponds. The city has a 79,000-square-foot convention center (Watters Creek Convention Center) that is owned and operated by Marriott Hotels. In addition, Allen also has a multi-purpose arena, the Credit Union of Texas Event Center, owned and operated by the City of Allen. There are three major malls/shopping areas in the city – Allen Premium Outlets, Watters Creek, and The Village at Allen. These shopping complexes attract many visitors on a daily basis. Watters Creek is a great place for an afternoon of shopping and dining and you can also adopt a furry friend on Saturdays! Throughout the year on Saturdays, they will have rescue groups do an event.
Allen also boasts many luxury hotels often used by visitors and people traveling for business: Hyatt Place Dallas/Allen, Hilton Garden Inn Dallas-Allen, Courtyard by Marriott Dallas Allen at Allen Event Center, and Delta Hotels by Marriott Dallas Allen.
